Brussels:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in the Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Donor Group for Palestine, held in the Belgian capital of Brussels. The meeting was co-chaired by the European Commission and the State of Palestine, with the participation of European Union member states and international and regional institutions, as well as the Palestinian Minister of Finance, who presented an overview of the reforms implemented by the State. The Organization was represented at this meeting by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Taysir Rashid Dawas, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestinian and Jerusalem Affairs, who delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of strengthening international partnership and cooperation to support peace, stability, and development at this critical juncture. In his remarks, Ambassador Dawas explained that sustainable development cannot be achieved nor can reform programs succeed under the ongoing Israeli occupation, which imposes policies and measures that undermine the capabilities of the Palestinian people and deprive the Palestinian National Authority of access to and use of its resources. The organization also welcomed the tangible progress made by the Palestinian Authority in implementing its institutional, administrative, and financial reform program, which reflects a serious political will to entrench the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance, and to enhance the efficiency of national institutions. The organization renewed its call on the European Union and all international partners to continue and intensify their political and economic support for the Palestinian government, enabling it to fulfill its national responsibilities and improve basic services for citizens, emphasizing that this support is not merely a contribution to development but a genuine investment in security and peace, and a fundamental pillar for preserving the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The ambassador concluded by reaffirming the OIC’s commitment to working with international partners to mobilize efforts aimed at ending the occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
