Capacity Development Training on International Human Rights Systems & Pakistan’s Commitments

ISLAMABAD:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri, while attending the two-day capacity development training, emphasized that strengthening institutional capacity and promoting evidence-based reporting are essential for effectively advancing Pakistan’s international human rights commitments, particularly in relation to women’s rights, gender equality, and implementation of CEDAW.The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Huqooq-e-Pakistan II Project, organized a two-day capacity development training on 2–3 June 2026 for Members, Officers, and Officials of National Commission on the Status of Women, aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s engagement with international human rights systems.The training focused on enhancing understanding of international human rights frameworks, Pakistan’s treaty obligations, and key global reporting mechanisms, including the Universal Periodic Review and GSP+ commitments. It also emphasized evidence-based human rights reporting and the linkages between human rights obligations and the Sustainable Development Goals (Sustainable Development Goals).Key sessions covered UN Treaty Bodies and UPR mechanisms, state reporting obligations and concluding observations, CEDAW implementation and reporting processes, GSP+ compliance frameworks, mapping of international conventions, a practical UPR simulation exercise, and integration of human rights with SDGs.NCSW remains committed to strengthening human rights governance through capacity building, informed policy engagement, and institutional collaboration for meaningful and sustainable impact.
