ISLAMABAD:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The Seerat-un-Nabi Chair and the Department of Islamic Studies at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST) organized a prestigious seminar titled "Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA): The Practical Manifestation of Seerat-e-Nabwi ﷺ and a Role Model for Youth" at the university auditorium. Addressing the seminar as the keynote speaker, the Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University highlighted essential guidelines based on peace, knowledge, and mutual tolerance.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the sacred persona of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) transcends any single school of thought, group, or specific segment of society. He described the Imam Al-Aqaam as a shared asset and the pivot of unity for the entire Muslim Ummah and humanity at large. He noted that while the study of the Prophet's ﷺ life teaches compassion, forgiveness, and peace, Imam Hussain (RA) proved through his actions that he was the truest representative and herald of that sublime Prophetic character (Uswa-e-Hasana).
Highlighting the contemporary challenges faced by the country and its younger generation, the Vice Chancellor identified extremism and sectarianism as poisonous elements hollowing out societal foundations. He stressed that a deep study of the Karbala narrative offers a profound message of unity, tranquility, and peace, rather than chaos. Quoting the historic declaration of Imam Hussain (RA): "I have not risen for spreading mischief, arrogance, corruption, or oppression, but my sole purpose is the reformation of the Ummah of my grandfather (Muhammad ﷺ)," the VC remarked that our energies must always be directed toward reformation and binding people together, counteracting extremism with knowledge, peace, and love.
Drawing guidance from the gateway to the city of knowledge, Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib (KW), the Vice Chancellor reminded the youth of the golden principle governing social peace: "People are of two types: either they are your brothers in faith, or your equals in humanity." He asserted that this single philosophy holds the key to interfaith harmony, mutual tolerance, and the total eradication of hatred and prejudice from society. Quoting another saying of Hazrat Ali (KW) that "There is no poverty greater than ignorance, and no wealth greater than wisdom," he reiterated that the true objective of the university extends beyond issuing degrees; it is to nurture intellect, wisdom, and rational thinking to guide students from the darkness of sectarianism into the light of tolerance.
Concluding his address, the Vice Chancellor advised the youth—the future of the nation—never to compromise on principles, even in the toughest circumstances, mirroring the firm stance of the youth of Karbala. He emphasized that being a true follower of Hussain (RA) requires an open heart, gentle speech, and a peaceful character that respects diverse perspectives through constructive dialogue. The university community collectively pledged to block the growth of extremism, transcend sectarian divisions to live as one united Pakistani nation, and adopt knowledge, research, and ethics as their ultimate tools for progress.
