DG-FIA -Dr.Usman Anwar attended a high-level Zoom briefing on the protection of cultural heritage.

Which was given by Brigadier General Antonio Petti, Commander of the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Italy.

ITALY:(International Desk)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Dr. Usman Anwar, attended a high-level Zoom briefing on the protection of cultural heritage, delivered by Brigadier General Antonio Petti, Commander of the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, Italy.The virtual session was held in continuation of the bilateral understanding reached during the visit of the Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi and DG FIA, Dr. Usman Anwar to Italy in February 2026. During the visit, it was mutually agreed that Pakistan and Italy, with the active cooperation of the Pakistan Embassy in Rome, would establish a structured cooperation mechanism to effectively counter the smuggling and theft of cultural heritage.The proposed cooperation framework encompasses intelligence sharing, specialized training, capacity building, and transfer of modern technology to strengthen institutional responses against transnational crimes targeting cultural property.During the briefing, Brigadier General Antonio Petti shared international best practices and operational strategies adopted by the Italian Carabinieri in safeguarding cultural assets. The Zoom interaction marks a significant step towards operationalizing the bilateral cooperation mechanism, paving the way for sustained coordination, joint initiatives, and knowledge exchange between FIA and the Italian Carabinieri.
