This initiative aims to transition Pakistan from a raw material exporter to a high-value technology leader in the global nutraceutical market, which is projected to reach USD 753.2 billion by 2028.Historically, academic research in Pakistan has faced a "Silo Effect," where significant scientific findings remained confined to journals while local yields stagnated. The Triple Helix model addresses this by positioning the University as a provider of innovation, Industry as a source of funding and real-world problems, and the Government as the provider of essential policy infrastructure.Key Collaboration Highlights:Strategic Partners: The partnership involves Qarshi Industries (QRI), the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST), and leading Chinese industrial partners.Molecular Standardization: Utilizing advanced DNA Barcoding and molecular systematics, the collaboration is standardizing indigenous Pakistani flora, such as Taxus wallichiana and Fagonia indica. This provides a molecular "fingerprint" that allows local industries to certify products for export to elite markets like the EU and China.Green Nanotechnology: Research integration includes using green nanotechnology for enhanced drug delivery from herbal plants and identifying drought-resistant traits in crops to ensure climate resilience.Institutional Growth: Plans are underway to establish an Independent Traditional Medicine Research Institute and a Telecommunication Lab to facilitate the exchange of academia and students between Pakistan and China.Our research must be regionally rooted but globally standardized," the presentation emphasizes.
