UO Syndicate approves 65 appointments, 1700M budget

Okara:(Special Representative)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,The University of Okara’s (UO) Syndicate, in its 28th meeting, approved 61 appointments and 4 promotions, recommended by the Selection Board. Moreover, the revised budget for the financial year 2025-26 worth Rs. 1700 million, was also approved on the recommendations of the 19th Finance & Planning Committee (F&PC). 

The Syndicate was Chaired by the Minister for Higher Education Punjab, Rana Sikandar Hayat, who appreciated the UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Sajjad Mubin, for steering the institution on right track by ensuring transparency and meritocracy in all matters besides initiating a gamut of projects for academic and infrastructural development. 

The Registrar of the UO, Jamil Asim, presented the agenda of the meeting. Sharjeel Ahmed, Public Relation Officer, presented the progress report of the institution pertaining to the tenure of the incumbent VC. The Minister and all members of the Syndicate including Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmed, Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, Salman Ghani, Mazhar Ali Khan, Zahida Azhar, Mian Muneer Ahmed, Chaudary Javed Allaudin, Motia Baigam, Shazia Khizar, Shahid Imtiaz, Ghulam Nabi and Javed Iqbal Bukhari commended the remarkable growth of the varsity under the leadership of Prof Mubin. 

The main agenda of the meeting was the approval of the selection boards of Assistant Professor and Lecturer of Molecular Biology, Assistant Professor of Law, Assistant Professor and Lecturer of International Relations, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies, Lecturer of English Linguistics, Assistant Professor and Lecturer of Special Education, Lecturer of Biochemistry, Assistant Director ORIC, Assistant Engineer (Civil), Assistant Professor of Management Sciences, Deputy Treasurer and Lecturer Sociology. The Syndicate approved all the cases. 

The policies of Day Care Canter and House Allotment were also vetted by the Syndicate. The leave cases of various faculty members were also approved. 

The Syndicate, after Waqar Ahmed Sheikh, Additional Registrar, presented the probe report of Dr Shehla Honey, Assistant Professor (TTS) of Physics, unanimously decided to initiate the inquiry as per PEEDA Act by constituting a high-profile committee. The probe report highlighted “fundamental violations of HEC policies, misconduct, misrepresentation of information, financial irregularities, misbehavior towards her colleagues, illegal inclusion of IPFP period in TTS service, foreign visits without due intimation and failure in academic performance at the end of Dr Honey.
