EU needs to change pace on competitiveness - Meloni after meeting Merz
Leaders agree to boost defence and security cooperation.
ITALY:(International News Desk)According to Global times News Agancy Europe,Premier Giorgia Meloni said Friday that she and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz agree that the EU needs to rethink its Green policies in order to regain competitiveness after meeting him as part of an intergovernmental summit in Rome.We and Chancellor Merz agree that a decisive shift in Europe's competitiveness is needed, because a certain ideological vision of the Green transition has brought our businesses to their knees without having an impact on environmental protection," Meloni told a joint press conference with Merz. There is space to correct the mistakes and avert industrial decline, but it takes courage. On February 12 we will present a joint non-paper in Brussels focusing on some issues that cannot be put off: simplification of European bureaucracy, strengthening the single market, relaunching the automotive industry in the name of technological neutrality, and an ambitious trade policy based on shared rules and equal conditions".During the summit Meloni and Merz signed an agreement on boosting defence and security cooperation in the face of "growing" threats "Italy and Germany are today closer than ever," she said. This is good news for our peoples and for Europe as a whole".
